Week 2: Scene Transition

Notes

My interest in this year studio paper is mirrored/reflections, after the site visit i really liked the idea of how 1 mirror can create these two worlds (aka parallel words) this idea came from a Korean drama that i watched called “W Two Worlds” Therefore in this project, I wanna see and show the wonderful things we can create using this object that almost everyone has in their houses.

There’s actually a lot more you can do with mirrors but my approach is that mirrors unfold this imaginative world, therefore for my project design I want people to open their imaginations

Walkthrough any town or city and you will most likely see hordes of people checking themselves out in windows and anything mirror-like they pass by. Heck, you may very well catch yourself doing the same without even meaning to. Mirrors have changed the way we walk through the world, the way we dress, and many other facets of everyday life. The psychological impacts of so clearly being a subject of yourself can contribute to body dysmorphia and even eating disorders.

On the other hand, mirrors have also given us something which our primitive ancestors could never have imagined: a perspective on how we look to the rest of the world. In the olden days, it wasn’t that people weren’t curious what they looked like, it’s that they didn’t yet have the tech to make that happen.

From playing around with the different materials i had, i quite like how refelctive materials becomes this unique projector especially when combining coloured materials with in, which makes it more interesting as look at it as sunlight when projected right it will create this spotlight onto the wall of the floor.
