What was your intervention (both planned and implemented?)
For my intervention I wanted to make create an intervention where students can have their own personal space from other students that uses the space, as sometimes when other students sits on the space/couches they would take up most of the space (like 2/3 of the space) leaving less for others to sit.
How did you implement it?
Without the border the students who uses the site are likely to use/ take up more space than they normally do
What were the actions, intentions, processes, methods, reactions?
Actions – Students will feel oblige not to cross the boundary line
Intentions – Having each students their own personal space (if possible – that is equally separated)
Processes – Using any tape, start taping from the headrest straight till all the way down to the floor dividing the couch space
Methods – Any tape and a scissors
Reactions – After I have set up my intervention the person who I was already sitting with when I arrived at the site left, as I think it made her feel awkward or weirded out of what I was doing as it was also new to her, After a couple of minutes someone else passed by my intervention but didn’t bother sitting on the vacant seat next to me and I’ve noticed she’d rather sit somewhere else.
Every single time I would set up I would get the feeling of people eyeing me out for what i was doing, as it was new to them
When was it put into motion?
1-2pm where normally there should be more people into the site as I have documented that the peak time for the site is in between 12pm – 2pm as it’s normally their lunch time
What was the duration of the intervention, and why?
Initially I planned my intervention to start at 12pm but since it’s there’s COVID I figured there wasn’t as much people as there used to be, and I was correct when I arrived at the site at 1pm (an hour late).
Describe and analyses how your intervention modulated/changed the social space. What was the change that occurred in the space, and how/why did it happen?
Before:
Other people that uses the space will/ might take up more space than they expect, which makes other people that will use the space feel awkward for invading their privacy
Before I put in action my intervention the space felt open and somewhat awkward while I was sitting with someone
After:
Makes people think that their space is more limited compared to before, as the boundary line lets them know which side is their’s and not
Identify the contexts and concepts relevant to the site and your intervention/interference. Why are they important or relevant?

Situate yourself and your interests in relation to the social space.
Interviewing participants:
Two of the people that I have interviewed during/ about my intervention said that before the intervention they said that it was a good idea to have some sort of divider between other people’s personal spaces. As other people would also lay down to take a rest while waiting for their next classes, I also can agree that sitting with someone that would also make me or other people feel awkward sitting with. But someone also said that it also felt weird for them knowing that there is a divider between other people when using the space.
Another participants said that it would be fine to have some sort of divider between each space as some people may follow the rules, however not all will especially if there are more than people that would fit the max people in each divided space. They also said that before the divider they felt exposed when sitting with someone but they also think that the divider would be higher (same level as the space or waist line higher) for it to be more effective and it’ll less awkward as before.
The video below you can denifitely hear that there’s not much people around the site than there would normally be
Before my intervention, when i arrived to the site I was sitting with someone but after i have set up for my intervention she immediately left. So after a couple of minutes more people would pass by the vacant chair where my intervention was set up but they would rather sit on other vacant seats that i haven’t set up my intervention on
Taping down one couch/ space would use up about 2000 to 3500 of tape
After sem break between the peak time of my site there still wasn’t as much people as I thought there would be.
But during my intervention was running when there was both two people each sides of the divider I have noticed that both students respected each other personal spaces because they know and see the boundary

With the WG level 4 building (chill area), the couches/ seats are wide/ huge fitting 3 people at the same time, however most of the times there would only be two people sitting at each couch. The idea of a big couch for a lot of other people to sit with you makes other people feel awkward, especially if other people that uses the space/ couch they would take up most of the space (like 2/3 of the space) leaving less for others to sit/ use and making the other people feel awkward for invading their personal space/ privacy.
Therefore, for my intervention I wanted to make create an intervention where students can have their own personal space from other students/ people that uses the space making it more less awkward for some people. To achieve my intervention, I am planning to make some sort of a boundary to separate people’s personal spaces between other people. The intervention creates this different feeling between two people compared to before, as they would be oblige/ instinct not to cross their boundary line, this way it’ll assure that the other person using the space will surely have their own personal space. To do this I would simply just need any sort of tape for the boundary line (taping down from the headrest straight till all the way down to the floor dividing the couch space) and scissors.
This intervention should be during the peak time of the site, which is around 12pm – 2pm as that’s when most of the students come to the site for their break/lunch. Initially I planned my intervention to start at 12pm but since it’s there’s COVID and sem break I figured there wasn’t as much people as there used to be, and I was correct when I arrived at the site at 1pm (an hour late) and stayed there till 2pm.
