For Thursday’s class:
- Choose 3 social spaces — Assign each site 2-3 words from the list on the paper guide.
- Visit each site, make some notes and images about each space chosen.
- On A5 paper, arrange/design/organise these notes + images (1 x A5 per site, 3xA5s in total).

Before Next week Tuesday’s class we are asked to pick one social place to observe and document it
The social space I have chosen was the AUT WG building Level 4 chill area
And here are some of my documentation I have written
While I was observing I came to a realization that the space gave me the feeling of confortability, convience and alot of natural lighting
What i’ve noticed from the WG level building 4 chill area:
- Unique roofing design
- A few wall’s has details on them
- Some chairs are on its own for personal space unlike the cafe like couch, and having the couch like cafe couch kinda beats the purpose of personal space if only one person has to sit on it hence to why the study area can easily be occupied
Gravitational pull
The AUT WG level 4 building chill area is my chosen social space, where I can do my work and eat at the same time. As a designer, I like to surround myself with sounds, ideas, but more specifically I like how there’s a lot of natural lighting that filters the place, the space also provides comfort which is a must to students when doing work. It’s interesting how the city, a threshold of busy and crowded can be cancelled out when entering the WG building meaning you’re entering a new threshold of relaxing and stillness.
