Week 7: Threshold moment through the door handle

After designing the interior I now need to consider the door handles, door frames/door, ceiling details, other wall details

Door handles

Door Designs

For the door design I wanted more of an interesting design unlike any average door the main point of my space is an an experience to where people can escape from spending their lives living in dreary, grey-beige conformity, I tried not to use colours we see in our everyday routine.

After I researched a few ideas I then sketched out a few door handles of my own that I might use for my proposal.

For the door design I wanted a slightly simple and unique design as the name of my proposal will be called The Get Away so after I came up with the name it first reminded me of the door to Narnia (movie from Chronicles of Narnia), therefore the door that i’m trying to achieve is not see through for more mysterious feeling and something appealing to people that would make them wanna go into the space more.

While for the door handle I want to design a more simple/plain design to contrast the design of the door

Before I was about to design the door I decided to make a etched glass door for the exterior doors as I wanted to get as much sunlight as I could as it is a long foyer space

Instead these are the door designs I have used as an idea for mine

For my entrance into the foyer space I wanted to make adjustment to the size of the doors

For the glass texture design I wanted a frosted glass door and window for the entrance as apparently it lets more natural sunlight in to the space which is what I want.

The Benefits of Frosted Glass

How Frosted Glass is Made

Frosted glass is made through a process which roughens and obscures the surface of the glass. Here at Sash Windows London Ltd, our frosted glass is produced through a technique known as sandblasting. This helps the glass get its rugged textured look. Frosted glass is aesthetically pleasing in any space and can add a sense of warmth and style to any décor.

Easy to Clean

Frosted Glass Cleaning

For those of you who like to keep a clean home, you will be happy to know that frosted glass is especially easy to clean and keep clean. Glass does not rust or corrode and frosted glass can be easily wiped clean with a cloth. Another remarkable thing about cleaning frosted glass is that it does not streak easily due to its textured surface. All that is needed to keep the glass clean is an occasional wipe with a microfibre cloth and some cleaner. Images below are the render images of what my doors will be

For the door design I used a purple colour to it as the main colour selection for my work. I For the exterior door handle I ended up picking the ‘s’ like shaped handle, and later on I will cover to why I made the door handle like that.

In order for the foyer space to get more natural sunlight I’ve ceated a huge window abovethe doors, the glass texture that i’ve used for the doors and the window is a crystal glass.

While for the interior door handles I chose is also similar to the exterior door handle

To contrast the wallpaper I chose the interior door to be plain and the colour to be orange connect with the ceiling, table top/ LED lights and bar

As you walk further into the foyer space it gets less sunlight so therefore I decided to have another light source inside the building, however this light will appear to have slight orange to it. As the main roof colour that I applied is blue I used the colour orange as well as the light
