Week 1: Concept Project 1

Spatial Fabrication Studio

Today in class we were introduced to the idea of sleep and wake, which is the transition between being asleep and waking up. This assessment is focused on the individuals interpretation of the idea of the threshold between the two different states.

Spatial Designer

These are the few spatial designers that I have picked and have an interesting drawing practice that somewhat relates to the sketch that I am thinking of drawing of my own impressions of sleep / wake.

My sketch

This drawing is my own impression of sleep. My idea that I was going for was an outline of an unfinished face, that shows no eyes and a melted ice cream like on the collar bones. In this drawing I also wanted to incorporate shadows (light and dark).

The idea of not drawing the eyes was because my own impression of sleep is the fact that my eyes are always sore when i’m about to sleep therefore most of the times I don’t want to feel the pain.

The unfinished face and the ice cream like-melted on the collar bones represents my body, unsteady and uneven this shows how I have ran out of energy for the day and need to sleep to be whole again. And the head represents my thoughts of process stops before I go to sleep as all I could think about is sleep.
